We’re excited to announce Matchstick has completed an investment in Kidizen. Minneapolis-based Kidizen has created a community marketplace for parents to connect with one another and buy and sell resale kids’ items – a $19B market in the U.S.
If you have kids, you know the pain of continually purchasing new clothes to keep up with your exponentially growing children. Nothing worse than purchasing a $30 pair of pants to have them be too small within 6 months. Well, unless you try to sell those $30 pair of pants via the common channels of eBay, facebook, or, god forbid, the weekend mom thrift events (if you know, then you know what I’m talking about).
Kidizen has built a mobile, inventory-free, marketplace app with the busy, stylish mom at the forefront. The app is beautiful. Period.
For buyers, the app provides slick browsing and filter functions that are specific to your children. You can follow other seller’s shops that match your style preferences and have a continually fresh feed of pre-loved and new-never-worn clothing stream through. You can impulse purchase just about anything with just a few taps. Or, favorite items to review and purchase later – provided somebody else does get the one-of-a-kind item first!
For sellers, you can setup your own shop and make money on your children’s used clothing it just a few taps. It just makes sense and is totally in tune with how today’s stylish and savvy moms want these transactions to occur.
Marketplaces are a challenging business to get off of the ground. Dug, Dori, and Mary have been at it a while and just continue to impress and execute. Ryan has known the team for quite some time and has stayed in close contact throughout their growth. It’s exciting to finally make this investment and partner with this amazing team through their next wave of growth.
Welcome Dug, Mary, Dori, and the whole Kidizen crew to the Matchstick family!
