The world is increasingly connected, however, that doesn’t mean everyone knows what the other person is saying. Adapting to local customs (like language, colors, or layout design) has traditionally been too difficult to undertake and a missed growth opportunity for most web-based businesses.
Today, we’re proud to announce that we are investing in Localize, a startup in San Francisco that has built an intuitive localization platform for expanding internationally more quickly and easily than ever before.
Localize addresses the core needs of most web-based businesses, but with a scalable price point. Over 70 million pages have been served from customers like Airbnb (marketing for the Rio 2016 Olympics), Uber, Intuit, Microsoft, and a variety of smaller businesses that use publishing tools like Squarespace or Shopify.
With Localize, customers get enterprise-grade reliability but also the simplicity and ease of a consumer app. After pasting their code into your website (more platforms on the way!), the library detects content and routes it to a translator automatically — then, with a single click, the deployment is live. It just works.
We have to thank Jeff Epstein at Ambassador (who mentioned the problem as a massive pain point), and for introducing us to the incredibly talented team after their graduation from Techstars NYC. We weren’t surprised when he decided to co-invest with us!
To Brandon, Joshua, Johnny, and the whole Localize crew — welcome to the Matchstick family!
